Clara’s Romanian Journeys — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Who we are
Clara’s Romanian Journeys (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UK-based bespoke travel planning service operated by Dinu Stanciu, trading as Clara’s Romanian Journeys, and is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
- Trading as: Clara’s Romanian Journeys
- Legal status: [[PLACEHOLDER: LEGAL ENTITY TYPE — sole trader / limited company]]
- Company registration number (if incorporated): [[PLACEHOLDER: COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER — if incorporated]]
- Registered/business address: [[PLACEHOLDER: REGISTERED ADDRESS]]
- ICO registration number: [[PLACEHOLDER: ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER]]
- Website: clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk
- Privacy contact: contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk
Personal data we collect
We only collect personal data that you give us directly, chiefly through the enquiry form on this site. The current enquiry form asks for:
- Contact details: full name, email address, and an optional phone number.
- Trip details: preferred month, trip length, number of travellers, the region of Romania you are interested in, party type (e.g. couple, family, friends, solo, multigenerational), transport preference, and a free-text description of the trip you have in mind.
- Consent record: confirmation that you agree to be contacted about your enquiry.
- Technical and provenance data submitted with the form: the page you submitted from, the page title, an internal “source context” label, the referring page, campaign/UTM parameters if present in the link you followed, the time of submission, an anonymous device identifier generated by this site (see Cookie Policy), and a verification token from Cloudflare Turnstile confirming the submission was not made by an automated bot.
If you write to us directly by email, phone, or WhatsApp instead of using the form, we hold whatever you send us in that correspondence, including any special category data you choose to share with us to help plan your trip — for example a dietary requirement connected to a health condition, or an accessibility need. We only process that kind of data because you have explicitly provided it to us for the purpose of planning your trip (lawful basis: explicit consent, UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a)), we use it solely for that purpose, and we do not ask for it beyond what you volunteer.
If a booking proceeds, your itinerary and booking correspondence will also include payment records and any traveller information (for example passport-related details) that suppliers require to deliver the services in your itinerary.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and this site is not directed at children.
How we use your data, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Data used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Responding to and handling your enquiry | Contact details, trip details, message, provenance data | Legitimate interests — responding to a direct enquiry you initiated |
| Preparing and refining your itinerary, and performing a confirmed booking | Contact details, trip details, correspondence, payment and traveller records where a booking proceeds | Performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request prior to entering into one |
| Fraud and spam prevention on the enquiry form | Turnstile verification token, anonymous device identifier | Legitimate interests — keeping the enquiry channel usable and free of abuse |
| Financial and accounting records for a confirmed booking | Payment and invoicing records | Legal obligation (UK tax and accounting record-keeping requirements) |
| Site analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) | Pages visited, approximate engagement, anonymous device identifier | Consent |
| Marketing communications, if we ever introduce them | Contact details | Consent, sought separately and never bundled with responding to your enquiry |
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not use it for any purpose other than those set out above.
Who we share your data with
The following list reflects what this website and its supporting systems actually do, based on our own review of the code and configuration that runs the site. We may share relevant booking details with Romanian accommodation, transport and activity suppliers solely to check availability and make reservations on your behalf, and we will always tell you before doing so.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — verifies that enquiry form submissions are not automated. Your browser communicates directly with Cloudflare when the form loads.
- Sanity (headless CMS) — stores and serves editorial content such as region highlights, featured journeys and guest testimonials. Some pages (including the homepage and region pages) fetch this content directly from Sanity’s API in your browser, which means your browser’s IP address and request metadata are visible to Sanity when those sections load, independently of any form submission.
- Render (hosting provider) — our enquiry intake and review service, which receives enquiry form submissions before they reach us, verifies the Turnstile token, and forwards the enquiry into our internal review process.
- Basin (form processor) — our enquiry form is configured to be submitted to, or forwarded to, Basin as part of the intake process described above.
- Google Sheets — we use a private Google Sheet as our internal enquiry and proposal tracker once an enquiry has been reviewed. This is an internal tool, not visible to the public.
- Resend (transactional email) — where configured, we use Resend to send booking-related notification emails and to deliver customer-facing proposal documents by email.
- HostGator — our web hosting provider, which processes standard web server logs (including IP addresses) for all visitors to this site.
- Google Analytics (GA4) — only loaded, and only sets cookies, if you actively accept analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy below.
Payment processor: [[PLACEHOLDER: PAYMENT PROCESSOR]] — at present we do not take online card payments through this website; the payment method currently set out in our public business information is bank transfer. This placeholder will be completed if and when an online payment processor is introduced.
Email/CRM provider (beyond the transactional use of Resend above): [[PLACEHOLDER: EMAIL / CRM PROVIDER]]
We require every processor we use to protect your data and to use it only for the purpose we specify.
International transfers
Your data may be transferred outside the UK in the following circumstances:
- Romania: relevant booking details are shared with Romanian suppliers (accommodation, transport, activity providers) strictly to arrange your trip.
- United States: Google (Analytics, if you consent), and potentially other US-based processors identified above depending on their infrastructure, may process data outside the UK.
Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK’s recognised transfer safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum or an applicable adequacy decision) with the processor concerned. [[PLACEHOLDER: CONFIRM EXACT TRANSFER MECHANISM AND HOSTING REGION FOR EACH PROCESSOR — Sanity, Render, Resend, Basin, Google — not verifiable from this codebase]]
How long we keep your data
[[PLACEHOLDER: RETENTION PERIODS — enquiry data / booking records / financial records]]. No retention schedule currently exists in our systems; this section will be completed once one is adopted, rather than published with invented figures.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Request restriction of processing
- Data portability, where applicable
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk. We aim to respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully — see Complaints below for how to do that.
Data protection complaints procedure
Since 19 June 2026, UK data protection law requires us to have a documented procedure for handling complaints about how we process personal data. Our procedure is:
- Receipt: send your complaint to contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk, describing what happened and what outcome you are looking for.
- Acknowledgement: we will acknowledge your complaint within [[PLACEHOLDER: DATA COMPLAINT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TIMESCALE]].
- Investigation and response: we will look into your complaint and respond in full within one month of receipt, extendable by up to two further months for complex cases, in which case we will tell you and explain why.
- Escalation: if you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Automated decision-making
We do not carry out any automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. Every enquiry, itinerary and price we send you is reviewed and prepared by a person.
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. This website is served over HTTPS at all times.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this section will always reflect the most recent version.
Clara’s Romanian Journeys — Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 2026 — pre-launch draft
Clara’s Romanian Journeys has not yet taken its first booking. This Terms & Conditions section is a pre-launch draft, published so it can be reviewed ahead of launch. Several details marked [[PLACEHOLDER]] below — including our insolvency protection arrangements — must be confirmed, and this section reviewed by a solicitor, before any deposit or payment is accepted from a traveller.
Who we are
These terms govern any travel planning services you engage Clara’s Romanian Journeys to provide. By submitting an enquiry or engaging our services, you agree to these terms.
- Legal status: [[PLACEHOLDER: LEGAL ENTITY TYPE — sole trader / limited company]]
- Company registration number (if incorporated): [[PLACEHOLDER: COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER — if incorporated]]
- Registered address: [[PLACEHOLDER: REGISTERED ADDRESS]]
- VAT number (if registered): [[PLACEHOLDER: VAT NUMBER — if registered]]
- Contact: contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk
What Clara’s Romanian Journeys is, and is not
We organise and sell privately tailored, land-only travel packages to Romania. We are not a booking platform, not an airline, and we do not sell flights or act as your agent for booking flights. You arrange your own international travel to and from Romania, and your itinerary begins and ends within Romania unless we agree otherwise with you in writing.
Package status and financial protection
A trip we arrange for you that combines two or more different types of travel service (for example accommodation and a private transfer, or accommodation and a guided activity) for the same trip is a “package” under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. Where we sell you a package, we are required to hold financial protection against our insolvency, so that money you have paid us, and your return to your point of departure if the trip is disrupted, are protected.
- Insolvency protection scheme: [[PLACEHOLDER: INSOLVENCY PROTECTION SCHEME NAME — TTA / ABTOT / PTS / other]]
- Scheme membership number: [[PLACEHOLDER: SCHEME MEMBERSHIP NUMBER]]
- Scheme contact details and geographical address: [[PLACEHOLDER: SCHEME CONTACT DETAILS AND GEOGRAPHICAL ADDRESS]]
- Protection mechanism: [[PLACEHOLDER: PROTECTION MECHANISM — trust account / bond / insurance]]
We will not take a deposit or any payment from you for a package until this financial protection is in place and confirmed above.
What is included in a package
This page describes our service in general terms only. It does not itself list what is included in your trip. Your individual itinerary document names the specific property, room category, board basis, and transfer type for each part of your trip, and only what is listed in that document is included in your package. If something matters to you, ask us to confirm it is named in your itinerary before you book.
Booking, deposits and payment
- Deposit: [[PLACEHOLDER: DEPOSIT PERCENTAGE OR AMOUNT]]
- Balance due: [[PLACEHOLDER: BALANCE DUE — DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE]]
- Accepted payment methods: [[PLACEHOLDER: ACCEPTED PAYMENT METHODS]]
Submitting an enquiry, or receiving a draft itinerary, does not create a contract between us. A booking is only confirmed, and a contract only formed, once we have sent you written confirmation that we have accepted your booking on the basis of the final itinerary and any deposit or payment due.
Price changes
Once a booking is confirmed, we may only increase the price to reflect changes in: the cost of passenger carriage arising from fuel or other power sources; taxes or fees on included travel services imposed by third parties not directly involved in delivering your package (such as tourist taxes or airport/port fees); or exchange rates relevant to your package. We will only do this where this right, and how the increase is calculated, was set out in your booking confirmation, and we will not do so within 20 days of your departure date. If any of these factors mean the price should decrease, you are entitled to a corresponding price reduction, subject to us deducting our actual administrative costs. If a price increase is more than 8% of the total package price, you may accept the change or terminate the contract without paying a termination fee, and we will refund you accordingly.
Changes and cancellation by you
- Cancellation charges: [[PLACEHOLDER: CANCELLATION CHARGE SCALE — must mirror actual supplier terms]]
- Amendment fee: [[PLACEHOLDER: AMENDMENT FEE]]
You may transfer your booking to another person who satisfies the conditions applicable to the package, provided you give us reasonable notice before departure. Both you and the person taking over the booking remain jointly liable for the balance due and any transfer costs.
Changes and cancellation by us
If we need to make an insignificant change to your package, we will tell you. If we need to make a significant change, or cancel your package other than through your fault, you can choose to: accept the change; accept a suitable alternative package if we can offer one; or terminate the contract and receive a full refund. Where we terminate or you terminate for these reasons, we will refund you within 14 days.
We are not liable to pay compensation if we cancel because of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (such as, for example, natural disasters, war, terrorism, or significant health risks) that could not have been foreseen or avoided, and we will tell you as soon as we reasonably can if this happens.
Our responsibility for your package
We are responsible for the proper performance of the travel services included in your package, whether those services are performed by us or by our suppliers. If something goes wrong during your trip, please tell us without undue delay so we have a reasonable opportunity to put it right — contact details for in-trip support will be provided in your final booking confirmation.
We are not liable, and no compensation is payable, where a failure in your package is: attributable to you; attributable to a third party unconnected with providing your package and the failure was unforeseeable or unavoidable; or due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. Where liability can lawfully be limited, our total liability to you for any package is limited to three times the total package price, except that this limit does not apply to, and nothing in these terms excludes or limits, our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for any other loss caused by our intentional act or negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited as a matter of law. International conventions that apply to carriage (such as those covering air, rail, or sea transport) may separately limit the compensation payable by carriers for that carriage.
Traveller responsibilities
- You are responsible for holding a valid passport and any visas required for your trip, and for checking these requirements yourself with the relevant embassy or consulate in good time.
- Travel insurance: [[PLACEHOLDER: IS TRAVEL INSURANCE MANDATORY? — recommended vs required]]
- You are responsible for ensuring you and your party are fit and able to take part in any activities included in your itinerary, and for telling us about any relevant health or mobility needs before booking.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, and for behaving reasonably towards our staff and suppliers during your trip.
Complaints and dispute resolution
If something goes wrong during your trip, please tell us without undue delay, using the in-trip contact details in your booking confirmation, so we can try to put it right straight away. If your complaint is not resolved during your trip, or arises afterwards, see the full Complaints procedure below.
- Alternative dispute resolution: [[PLACEHOLDER: ADR / ARBITRATION BODY — required under PTR pre-contract information]]
- Governing law and jurisdiction: these terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Intellectual property
All content on clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk, and any itinerary or proposal we prepare for you, is our intellectual property. It may not be reproduced, distributed, or used by you or any third party (including other travel agents or operators) to replicate or undercut the proposed trip, without our written permission.

Clara’s Romanian Journeys — Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 2026
What this covers
This policy covers cookies and every other way this site stores information on, or accesses information already stored on, your device — including browser local storage, session storage, and offline caching — as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. This list reflects a direct audit of the code that runs this site.
What we found
| Name | Purpose | Category | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
crj_uid (local storage) | Anonymous device identifier, used to reduce spam/duplicate submissions on the enquiry form and, if you accept analytics, to group your own analytics events | Strictly necessary | Until you clear site data (no expiry is set) | First party |
crj_cookie_consent_v2 / crj_cookie_consent (local storage) | Remembers your cookie consent choice, so we don’t ask again every visit | Strictly necessary | Until you clear site data or change your choice | First party |
crj_events (local storage) | A local log of page views, clicks, scroll depth and time on page, used to understand which pages are useful. Only written if you accept analytics cookies. Not currently sent to any external analytics endpoint — it stays in your own browser | Statistical | Rolling, capped at the most recent 2,000 events, until you clear site data | First party |
crj_context_back:<page> (session storage) | Remembers which listing page you arrived from, so a “back” link returns you to the right place | Strictly necessary | Session only (cleared automatically) | First party |
Google Analytics cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*, _gid) | Measures site usage in aggregate. Only loaded, and only set, if you actively accept analytics cookies | Statistical | [[PLACEHOLDER: CONFIRM CURRENT GA4 COOKIE NAMES/DURATIONS — set by Google, not verifiable from this codebase]] | Third party (Google) |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Verifies that an enquiry form submission is not automated, before we accept it | Strictly necessary | [[PLACEHOLDER: CONFIRM CLOUDFLARE TURNSTILE COOKIE NAMES/DURATIONS — set by Cloudflare, not verifiable from this codebase]] | Third party (Cloudflare) |
| Service worker cache storage | Caches core pages and assets on your device so the site loads faster on return visits and works offline | Strictly necessary | Until we ship a new cache version, or you clear site data | First party |
We did not find any advertising cookies, retargeting/remarketing pixels, social media tracking cookies, or cross-site tracking technology anywhere in the code that runs this site.
Strictly necessary items (no consent required)
The items marked “Strictly necessary” above run without asking for consent because they are needed to deliver a service you have asked for: submitting the enquiry form safely and without spam, remembering your own cookie choice, basic in-session navigation, and making the site load reliably. Cloudflare Turnstile in particular loads as soon as a page with an enquiry form loads, ahead of any cookie choice you make — we rely on the strictly-necessary/security basis for this rather than asking for consent, because it exists to keep the form usable and safe, not to profile you.
Statistical items (consent required)
Google Analytics and our own local analytics log are only switched on if you actively choose “Accept analytics” or turn Analytics on in Cookie Settings. If you decline, or simply close the banner without choosing, neither runs. This is enforced in the code itself, not just described here: the scripts that start analytics are only called after your consent is read from storage as “yes”.
We have not applied the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 statistical-purposes cookie exemption to Google Analytics, because Google Analytics is a general-purpose Google platform and we cannot confirm the data is used solely for our own website statistics. We therefore continue to ask for your consent for it, which is the more protective approach.
How to give, refuse or change your consent
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept analytics, choose “Necessary only”, or open Settings to choose individually. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens this same control. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings; note that blocking strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site (such as the enquiry form) from working properly.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if what the site actually does changes. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
Complaints
Last updated: July 2026
We would rather put things right than have you leave unhappy. This section explains how to raise a complaint, whichever kind it is.
Complaints about your trip
If something goes wrong during your trip, please tell us as soon as possible using the in-trip contact details in your booking confirmation, so we have a fair opportunity to fix it while you are still there. If the issue is not resolved during your trip, or you want to raise something afterwards, email us at contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk with your booking reference and what happened.
- Acknowledgement: [[PLACEHOLDER: TRAVEL COMPLAINT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TIMESCALE]]
- Resolution: [[PLACEHOLDER: TRAVEL COMPLAINT RESOLUTION TIMESCALE]]
- Alternative dispute resolution body: [[PLACEHOLDER: ADR BODY]]
Complaints about your data
If your complaint is about how we have handled your personal data, email contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint within [[PLACEHOLDER: DATA COMPLAINT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TIMESCALE]] and respond in full within one month, as set out in the Privacy Policy above. If you remain unsatisfied, you can escalate to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
General contact route
For either kind of complaint, or if you are not sure which this is, the fastest route is contact@clarasromanianjourneys.co.uk. We will always tell you which of the two procedures above we are following, and confirm the timescale that applies.
